Team New Zealand and Luna Rossa have started the America s Cup early with a momentary drag race on the Waitematā Harbour.
With Auckland at alert Level 3 due to the re-emergence of Covid-19 in the community, the America s Cup match – which was set to kick off this weekend – has been pushed back to next Wednesday at the earliest, pending the Government s decision about whether to extend lockdown in the city.

MT. VERNON With a number-one seed up for grabs between Pulaski County and Rockcastle County, Chris Adkins Lady Maroons certainly came out firing on all cylinders in a big-time game.
Both teams came in with identical, 2-0 records in district action, but it was the Lady Maroons that found themselves alone at the top of the peak when all was said and done.
For the game on Wednesday night, Pulaski County drained 10 three-point baskets, while getting contributions from everyone that walked out onto the court.

March 03, 2021ALTON The Prospect Mountain girls hoop team finished up the regular season with a pair of wins against a physical Farmington team, coming from behind in both games as the Timber Wolves look toward the Division III tournament. We ve been having some slow starts, but we re able to get it going in the second half, said Timber Wolf coach Rick Burley. Obviously, we can t afford the slow start against teams in the playoffs.

TSUNAMI WARNING LATEST (1.25pm) GNS Science has downgraded tsunami warnings for New Zealand, advising the largest waves have now passed. A National Emergency Management Agency release says the threat level s now downgraded to a beach and marine threat for all areas that were previously under land and marine threat. It says all people who were evacuated can now return. The advice remains for all areas under beach and marine threat, to stay off beach and shore areas. Doubtless Bay residents in the Far North reporting seeing a surge of water come into the harbour. The surge came!, one resident posted on social media. Over the past hour a strong surge has been flowing into Mangonui Harbour. No tsunami wave as such but more like a strong flowing river stirring up the mud and sand in the harbour.
